During a crown lengthening procedure, the doctor will essentially lift the gums of very short teeth, making them appear to be much longer.
By reshaping the gums at the base of the tooth, additional tooth surface is exposed. At times, a tooth may also need an adjustment in the bone level to create more space for the tooth above the gum line.
Crown lengthening can also be used in combination with other treatments, such as the application of veneers and implants, bleaching and braces.
